Flip Grid
Flip Grid is a free daily puzzle. Every tap flips a tile and its four neighbors. Turn the whole board dark in as few moves as you can. A new board appears every day at 00:00 UTC, the same board for every player, so you can compare scores with friends. Want more? Switch to practice mode for unlimited random boards.
How to play
- Tap a tile to flip it and the tiles directly above, below, left and right of it.
- Lit tiles must all be switched off to solve the board.
- Try to match or beat the target move count shown above the grid.
- Share your result and come back tomorrow for a new board.
Tips and strategy
- Order never matters. Tapping the same set of tiles in any order gives the same board.
- Tapping a tile twice undoes it, so an optimal solution never taps the same tile twice.
- Work top to bottom: for every lit tile in a row, tap the tile directly below it. This "chases" the lights down to the bottom row.
- Once only the bottom row is lit, its pattern tells you which top-row tiles to tap first. Learn a few patterns and the method solves any board.
- Corners and edges flip fewer tiles than the middle, which makes them good for small fixes.
Questions
Is every Flip Grid board solvable?
Yes. Every board is built by tapping tiles on an empty grid, so it can always be switched off again.
How is the target move count chosen?
The game checks every possible solution and shows the shortest one, so matching the target means you found a perfect solve.
Is this the same as Lights Out?
Flip Grid uses the classic lights-out rule on a 5×5 grid, with a new shared board every day and a target move count.
When does the daily board change?
Every day at 00:00 UTC. Your progress and streak are saved in your browser.
