Daily Nonogram
Daily Nonogram is a free picture logic puzzle: use number clues to reveal a hidden pixel image. A new puzzle arrives every day at 00:00 UTC, and practice mode has unlimited boards across three grid sizes.
Daily Nonogram is a free picture logic puzzle, also known as Picross, Griddlers or paint by numbers. The numbers beside each row and above each column tell you the lengths of the filled blocks in that line. Use them to work out which squares to fill until the hidden picture appears. Every puzzle can be solved by logic alone, with no guessing. A new 10×10 puzzle appears every day at 00:00 UTC, the same for every player, and practice mode has unlimited 5×5, 10×10 and 15×15 puzzles.
How to play
- Each clue lists the filled blocks in that row or column, in order. "3 1" means a block of 3, then at least one gap, then a block of 1.
- Tap or drag to fill squares. Switch to Mark empty, or right-click, to cross out squares you know are blank.
- A clue turns grey when its line matches it.
- Fill every row and column correctly to reveal the picture. Try to beat your best time.
Tips and strategy
- Start with the big clues. In a 10-wide row, a clue of 7 must cover the middle four squares wherever it sits, so fill those first.
- Add the blocks and the gaps between them. If "4 5" adds up to 4 + 1 + 5 = 10 in a 10-wide row, the whole row is decided.
- Cross out squares you have proven empty. Marks are just as useful as filled squares for solving the lines that cross them.
- Work back and forth. Every square you settle in a row gives you a new fact about its column.
- Look at the edges. A filled square touching the border must be the start of the first or last block, so you can extend it.
Questions
What is a nonogram?
A nonogram is a logic puzzle where number clues describe the filled blocks in each row and column. Solving it reveals a pixel picture. The puzzles were invented in Japan in the late 1980s and are also called Picross, Griddlers, Hanjie and paint by numbers.
Do I ever need to guess?
No. Every puzzle is checked by a solver that only uses line-by-line logic, so there is exactly one answer and you can always reach it step by step.
What do the crosses do?
Crosses mark squares you know are empty. They do not count as filled, they just help you keep track of what you have worked out.
Can I play bigger puzzles?
Yes. Practice mode offers 5×5 for a quick warm-up, 10×10 and 15×15 for a longer challenge.
When does the daily puzzle change?
