How to play
- Guess the hidden 5-letter word in 6 tries.
- Each guess must be a valid 5-letter English word. Press Enter to submit.
- Green means the letter is in the word and in the correct spot.
- Yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot.
- Gray means the letter is not in the word at all.
Tips and strategy
- Start with a strong opening word that includes common vowels (A, E, O) and frequent consonants (R, T, S, L, N).
- Pay attention to duplicate letters: if a letter appears once in yellow, it might still occur multiple times in the word.
- Use eliminated letters to narrow down possibilities. Avoid reusing gray letters in later guesses.
- In tricky rounds, consider common word endings like -ER, -LY, -CH or -SH.
- Switch to Unlimited mode to practice as many rounds as you want without waiting for tomorrow.
Questions
How often is the daily puzzle updated?
A new daily puzzle goes live every day at 00:00 UTC, identical for players worldwide.
Can I play more than one puzzle per day?
Yes! Toggle to Unlimited mode to play as many randomized 5-letter word puzzles as you like.
What word lists are used?
Words are curated from SCOWL English dictionaries, excluding obscure entries and offensive language.
How does letter duplication work?
Clues account for letter frequency. If the secret word has one E and you guess two Es, only one tile will show green or yellow.
